W.E. Cultural Connections: Bridging Cultures for a Unified Future
W.E. Cultural Connections is a workshop dedicated to fostering cross-cultural awareness and understanding between the East and the West. Our mission is to promote Chinese culture to the Western world through a variety of language and cultural courses, videos, and blogs.
We also develop programs that introduce Western culture to Chinese audiences. We believe that the Western and Eastern worlds must come together to build mutual respect and understanding through language, culture, and open dialogues. By dismantling deep-rooted misunderstandings and addressing misconceptions born from misinformation or lack of communication, we aim to create a future where both cultures coexist harmoniously.
Our core belief is simple: only when the world unites as "WE" can a better future be possible for humanity. After all, we are all one.

Zhimin /Laurel Hong
Founder of WECC
Hi, I’m Zhimin, a native Chinese who lives in Australia for the past decade. I also go by the name "Laurel" in the Western world, a different cultural identity that I also love greatly.
Academically, I have a diverse background in languages(BA), psychology (BA, BAHons), interpreting(MA) and teaching(MA). These degrees obtained from China and Australia allow me to gain many sets of professional skills and dive deeply into both cultural and educational systems. The profound differences inspire me to build the bridge between the worlds.
Throughout my career, I have also worked as a lecturer at universities, colleges and an interpreter in both countries for about 15 years. Over the past five years, I have dedicated myself to studying cross-cultural communication, a field that has captivated me interest and given me insights on how language and culture shape our identities and experiences.
Personally, I’m deeply interested in spirituality, philosophy, and psychology—fields that help me better understand the human experience. I also enjoy connecting with like-minded people through deep meaningful conversations. It simply nurtures my soul.
