Language Services
At WECC, we provide a range of language courses and interpreting services to help bring people from different cultures together.
Currently, we offer general Chinese courses ranging from Beginner to Advanced level and a short course for travelling in China. All the courses are carefully designed to meet the various needs of the learners, tackle “tricky” language difficulties that are specific to native English speakers, keep a balance of content delivery and language skills drilling and build strong and scientific learning habits. This design also aligns well with the science of learning and psychology and is quite user-friendly for learners who may not have any foreign language learning experience or who have tight schedules.
In addition to the language programs, we also provide interpreting services for different communication settings including legal, educational, business and more. The interpreters are all NAATI-certified professional practitioners with high standards of work.
Beginner Level 2
This program is for learners who have some basic language skills in Chinese and would like to move forward but are still at the beginner level. Building on the foundations of the language, Level 2 shifts the focus from the individual to their daily life and introduces 10 everyday topics.
Beginner Level 1
This program is for learners who have no prior knowledge of the language or anyone who wishes to refresh the foundation of the language. It includes the introduction to the sound and writing systems of the language and 8 topics that allow the learners to have initial conversational communication with Chinese speakers.
Intermediate Level 2
This program takes the learners to move further by exploring more complicated aspects of personal life and the outside world. It will enable them to communicate with native speakers with more ease at a deeper and broader level with a higher level of language skills. This program is suitable for people who have a somewhat solid foundation in the language.
Intermediate Level 1
At this level, learners will learn to communicate about their lives in greater detail and their relationships with people around them. It includes 10 topics and some focused training on higher level of language skills. It is suitable for people who have mastered basic language skills and are learning to express more complicated ideas about their lives.
Advanced Level 1
In this course, learners will be exposed to more authentic texts where they may learn to communicate like a native speaker. More contemporary topics about China are included. This program is for learners who have solid language skills and hope to explore Chinese culture with higher language skills.
Intermediate Level 3
This program prepares learners of the intermediate level for the advanced level. In this course, a great deal of native-like expressions are slowly introduced in the extended and complicated texts. The topics are still about more complicated aspects of an individual’s personal life and relationships. This program is suitable for people who have a sound foundation in the language.
Short course for travelling in China
This program is designed to equip people who wish to visit China with some basic conversational Chinese. The focus of the course is oral communication with topics that are closely related to the individual and travelling (e.g. going through customs and asking for directions). It is suitable for people with or without any prior learning experience of the language.
Advanced Level 2
At the highest level, learners will be immersed in interesting texts that introduce Chinese ways of communication and compare Chinese and Western cultures. This program is suitable for learners who have high language skills and are interested in exploring Chinese culture with the Chinese language.
